What the duck ?! 500 rubber ducks will be launched on the Grand Union Canal this week as one of London's strangest annual eyewear returns.

The Rubber Duck Race is a charitable event where donations are collected for COSMIC (Children of St. Mary's Intensive Care Unit). At Merchant's Square in Paddington, a flock of fake ducks are tipped from the side of the bridge - and then bucked along the canal to the finish line.
Anyone can join in - donate £ 3 to a duck in the hope that your card will come first. In this case, you will receive a pair of Eurostar tickets.

The festivities will be continued later in the afternoon with the Dragon Boat Regatta, where ships with 11 men (plus drummer) race 100 meters along the canal - collecting money from COSMIC again. Expect a first-class costume too.
